Before the turn of the century, families who lived on inland ranches would go to the seashore and picnic by the "ocean side." The name stuck and became "Oceanside."

With three and one-half miles of public beaches, a 1,900 foot pier and two golf courses, Oceanside has thrived since its incorporation in 1888.

Oceanside residents have almost unlimited recreational choices. Tennis, golf, recreational boating, water-oriented activities and sport fishing can be enjoyed.

Oceanside Harbor is one of the finest protected harbors for small craft on the west coast. The picturesque Cape Code Village shopping area affords breathtaking views of the harbor and Pacific Ocean.
